Rue's Death poem

You slip from tree to tree your eyes and ears alert,
Before you leap from branch to dirt,
Four little notes you whistle to the sky,
And the Mockingjays echo your cry,
They sing it to the distant sky blue,
You pause to hear them singing your little tune,
You dance along the solid ground,
Not making a single sound,
Agile and silent you head toward the pier,
So you can light the next distracting fire,
A rustle in the trees makes you halt,
Only to your own fault,
Before you can move to vanish again,
You're trapped and screaming for your last friend,
You know she'll never reach you,
As a boy steps into view,
Triumph on his face he throws the spear,
Your scream is not the only one you hear,
As pain and the spear render you to your knees,
She runs out to slice you free,
But it's too late for you to escape this place,
Tears slide down your filthy face,
She's talking to you and choking down grief,
You need a different pain relief,
You ask her to sing to drown out,
The birds song of your final shout,
Her voice comes soft and slow,
Singing of a place to grow,
A place far from this awful fate,
A place where death doesn't wait,
You listen to her softening song,
You'll be there before long,
There with the daisies and blue sky,
In a place where you won't die,
The last notes fade from your sight,
As you slowly are pulled from life,

Red, purple, yellow, and blue,
She slowly starts to cover you,
The flower's soft petals cover the place,
Where the spear sealed you fate,
Their sweet aroma masks the end,
A beautiful farewell from your best friend,
Your four notes say that you are safe and free,
From the mockingjay in the tree,
Now you are gone from this world,
Mourned most by this other girl,
Yet she makes your end impossible to overlook,
With this love and care she took,
Each flower is carefully laid,
Before she kisses your face,
She stands and says a silent goodbye,
Before she turns and strides from sight.
